The Chiba Prefecture Yoshinkan Aikido Association was formed in 2002 in order to bring all Yoshinkan Aikido activity in Chiba Prefecture under the Ryu umbrella. In May of 2017, the Association was renamed the Ryu All Japan Aikido Federation in order to reflect the growth of the organization which now has members from all over Japan.  Various activities are carried out under the auspices of the Ryu All Japan Aikido Federation such as seminars taught by Ando Shihan aimed at raising and maintaining the level of Aikido and the level of the instruction at all Ryu-affiliated dojos. These include an annual New Year seminar and an annual seminar on the test syllabus techniques. The association also provides financial aid to Ryu-affiliated dojos nation-wide allowing them to host Ando Shihan for seminars in their area.

Greetings from the Chairman of the Ryu All Japan Aikido Federation

Ryu All Japan Aikido Federation Chairman Eiichi Furukawa

Aikido has a history of more than 800 years and the number of Aikido enthusiasts is increasing both in Japan and around the world.

Yoshinkan Aikido was founded in 1955 by Shioda Gozo Sensei, who was an apprentice to Ueshiba Morihei, the founder of Aikido.  Yoshinkan Aikido is a well-organised technical and educational system for effectively teaching the principles of the martial art to students of all ages.

There are no fights or competitions in Aikido.  Students improve by repeatedly practising the basic movements and basic techniques in cooperation with a partner.  This allows us to practise harmonising with our partner and doesn’t create feelings of pride or defeat or feelings of inferiority and superiority.   Yoshinkan Aikido in particular is known for its effectiveness as a system of self-defence and as such, is incorporated into the training of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force.

Tsuneo Ando Sensei trained for many years as an apprentice to Shioda Gozo Sensei and he started teaching in Urayasu City in 1989.  This led to the creation of Yoshinkan Aikido Ryu in 1996.  The number of clubs and dojos affiliated with the Ryu group increased and so in May 2002, the Chiba Yoshinkan Aikido Federation was formed.  This Federation continued to grow and so in May 2017, the name was changed to the Ryu All Japan Aikido Federation (RJAF) to reflect the now nation-wide activities of the organisation.  The ultimate goal of the RJAF is to bring its members together and contribute to the realisation of a peaceful and prosperous society through the spread and development of Aikido.

Thank you for your support!
