KIDS TRAINING CAMP

AIKIDO RYU - KIDS TRAINING CAMP

Yoshinkan Aikido Ryu holds a Youth Training Camp every year for Elementary and Junior High School students. Usually about 100 people, including volunteers and teachers, from various Yoshinkan Aikido Ryu clubs attend these camps.
The goal of these camps is to introduce children to communal life and to help with the development of valuable life skills, such as the ability to co-operate and to work in a team. Students also have the opportunity to learn important socialisation skills by meeting and making new friends. At these camps, older students are required to help and teach the younger students, thus also fostering a sense of responsibility. Furthermore, spending a little time away from home means children start to gain a sense of independence from parents and family.
Gaining self-reliance and the ability to live and work in harmony with others is a vital element in both a child`s development and in aikido training. The Yoshinkan Aikido Ryu youth camp experience therefore aims to give children a taste of the saying `aiki soku seikatsu` (`Aikido and life are one`).
